Why Parents NEED to Be in Photos (Yes, You Too, Mum & Dad!)

I was at the Zumbathon on Saturday, camera in hand, doing a photoshoot for my friend, business chum, and all-around powerhouse Raff PT (who, by the way, is an absolute gem if you’re looking for fitness motivation—check her out!). While I was there, I got chatting with a lovely lady who told me she’d love to book a Mummy & Me photoshoot, but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it. Why? Because she didn’t feel like she ‘looked good enough’ to be in the photos.
And honestly? I hear this ALL. THE. TIME.
The Most Common Excuses I Hear...
💬 “I just want pictures of the kids.”
💬 “I need to lose weight first.”
💬 “I don’t feel photogenic.”
💬 “I’ll do it when I’ve had more sleep.”
But here’s the thing: your kids don’t care about any of that.
What Happens When You’re Always Behind the Camera?
Picture this: in 20 years, your little one is all grown up. They’re flicking through old photo albums (or scrolling through digital ones, because, you know, the future). They see their childhood captured in beautiful moments—birthday parties, holidays, snuggles on the sofa. But something’s missing.
You.
You’re not in the pictures. Because you were always behind the camera, making sure they had beautiful memories—but forgetting that you’re a part of those memories too.

The Photos You Take Now Are a Gift for the Future
✔ Your kids won’t see your tired eyes or messy hair. They’ll see the way you looked at them like they were your whole world.
✔ They won’t notice your size. They’ll just see the arms that wrapped them up in the warmest, safest hug.
✔ They won’t remember if your makeup was ‘perfect.’ They’ll remember how you made them feel—loved, cherished, and completely adored.
Do Your Kids a Favour: Get in the Frame
I get it. It’s hard. But let’s make a promise: next time, step in. Even if it’s just one shot. Even if you’re not ‘ready.’ Even if you don’t love how you look today—because one day, your child will look back and love that photo more than anything.
And if you need someone to make you feel comfortable, relaxed, and actually enjoy being in front of the camera, I’ve got you. Let’s capture the moments your kids will treasure forever. 💛
